D & M Gannaway Ltd
Features
Gannaway Bagpipe Bags are made from cow hide leather and are uniquely different from other bagpipe bags. Over the years we have  developed our own tanning formula based on water soluble materials. This allows moisture to pass through the leather, aiding the control of moisture.

Shape
Comfort:
After many years of design improvements, Gannaway Bagpipe Bags have become renowned throughout the world for their instant comfort. The seams are double glued and guaranteed for the life of the bag.

Tying-In
All bags have swan necks for a clear airflow to the chanter and come with stock holes already cut for easier fitting. Tying-in string is supplied along with a small bottle of leather primer and full instructions.

Maintenance & Dressing
The best way to test a Gannaway Pipe bag for tightness, is to put rubber stoppers in the stocks and blow it up as tight as possible. Wait for one minute. If it is still tight or takes just a little puff of air, it requires no treatment. In many cases all that is necessary is a quarter of a cup of water poured into the bag to re-activate the dressing that is already there. Tip out any surplus water.

Do not over dress Gannaway Pipe bags, it will shorten their life.

When in dry conditions it is necessary to check the bag every two or three weeks and dress the bag as required. Use our Highlander Dressing or a glycerine-based dressing only. Glycerine attracts moisture and having it inside the bag means it takes the moisture from the air to the wall of the bag where it can be dispensed through the leather.  Where pipes are being blown for longish periods in wet conditions, the bag will take up a lot of moisture. In this situation the outside of the bag will become damp.
For even greater control of moisture, fit a Gannaway Tube Style Water Trap

Dressing the Bag
The most effective way to control  moisture, is to first prime the bag followed by dressing with Highlander Dressing.  Play the bag for 5-6 sessions/days, then towel out any surplus dressing and fit a Gannaway Moisture Control System. After towelling out the inside, the bag will beclean but the dressing that has gone into  the leather will be working to absorb moisture as with our regular Gannaway Pipe bag.

Fitting the Stocks and Drone Adjustment
To fit the Stocks into the rubber collars is quick and simple

The rubber collars, allow all stocks and chanter to be adjusted to suit the various individual requirements for perfect comfort. The collars also give considerable stability to the bass of the drones. This assist at blow up time and give a sense of security for long spells of playing.

Do not over tighten the hose clip.

GANNAWAY MOISTURE CONTROL SYSTEM

                                 NZ$160.00                                                                                                                                       Order Form

The Control System comes with two Filters and a donut shaped Sponge. The sponge collects the condensation and should be squeezed out about  every half hour or as required.
Fit the sponge into the end of the cup leaving a gap between the sponge and filter which is necessary for unrestricted air flow. When the sponge dries out it shrinks. Moisten the sponge and refit.

In conjunction with the sponge, the filters will keep the reeds dry for long periods depending on climate and the individual. Changing the filter will extend the blowing time by almost as much again.
In dry conditions remove the filter leaving the sponge to collect the condensation.

Wet crystals will dry in a micro wave. Unscrew the end of the filter and tip crystals into a micro wave bowl. They will take two or three minutes to dry.

Crystals can be purchased from most supermarkets as kitty litter.

Controlling the moist air to the chanter.
The small blue tube attached to the main tube takes moist warm air to the chanter area. On the tube, is a small tap for controlling the amount of air going to the chanter area.
