Maintenance
& Dressing
Do not over dress Gannaway Pipe bags, it will shorten their life. When in dry conditions it
is necessary to check the bag every two or three weeks and dress the bag
as required. Use our Highlander
Dressing or a glycerine-based dressing only. Glycerine attracts
moisture and having it inside the bag means it takes the moisture from
the air to the wall of the bag where it can be dispensed through the leather.
Where pipes are being blown for longish periods in wet conditions, the
bag will take up a lot of moisture. In this situation the outside of the
bag will become damp.

| Dressing
the Bag
The most effective way to control moisture, is to first prime the bag followed by dressing with Highlander Dressing. Play the bag for 5-6 sessions/days, then towel out any surplus dressing and fit a Gannaway Moisture Control System. After towelling out the inside, the bag will be clean but the dressing that has gone into the leather will be working to absorb moisture as with our regular Gannaway Pipe bag. |

| The Control System
comes with two Filters and a donut shaped Sponge. The sponge
collects the condensation and should be squeezed out about every
half hour or as required.
Fit the sponge into the end of the cup leaving a gap between the sponge and filter which is necessary for unrestricted air flow. In conjunction with the sponge,
the filters will keep the reeds dry for long periods depending on climate
and the individual. Changing the filter will extend the blowing time by
almost as much again.
Wet crystals will dry in a micro wave. Unscrew the end of the filter and tip crystals into a micro wave bowl. They will take two or three minutes to dry. Crystals can be purchased from most supermarkets as kitty litter. Controlling the moist
